Waterford Health Park

Conservation Healthcare Public

This project required the conversion and extension of the Presentation Convent (a protected structure designed by A.W.N. Pugin) for a change of use to a health and wellbeing centre for a medical practice, including the addition of a new entrance framed by new two-storey structures to each side of a redesigned reception space. The brief included GP surgeries, consultation rooms, reception & waiting areas, a minor operations room along with many community facilities for exhibitions and musical events as well as a coffee shop, healing garden and studios for yoga and pilates. Grey water systems were installed.

The project featured as a best-practice example of conservation and reuse in the Government Policy on Architecture 2009-2015 publication; ‘Towards a Sustainable Future Delivering Quality in the Built Environment’.

The project was also short listed for the World Festival of Architecture 2010 in Barcelona and won the ‘Generative Space award’ in Chicago in 2013.
