Our work to this functioning Cistercian monastery included the Master planning of the entire site; new upgraded heating and services for the existing building; the design and construction of a new accommodation wing for the monks including 27 living units, infirmary & small chapel; the refurbishment of the existing guest house; the internal reorganisation of both of the Abbey’s churches and the fire compliance works for the whole complex. The brief was developed in consultation with the monks as well as preplanning discussions with the planning and conservation departments of Waterford County Council and The Heritage Advisory Services of The Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government.
